Hunters can choose to hunt with a rifle, muzzleloader, shotgun, crossbow, or bow. This region is known for its high bear population, impressive trophy quality, and wide variety of color-phase bears. Every season, hunters harvest bears measuring over 21 inches Boone & Crockett and weighing more than 600 pounds.

Comfortable Accommodations in the Wilderness

Manitoba Hunting Regulations
To legally hunt in Manitoba, anyone born after January 1, 1951, or any first-time hunter must complete a certified Hunter Education course, either from Manitoba or another province. The most convenient way to get certified is through the online Huntercourse.com program, which costs $65.00 + GST and allows you to learn at your own pace. You must be at least 12 years old to get certified and purchase a hunting license. Once passed, your Hunter Education Card never expires.
How to Get Your Card

- Complete the Work: Read the material, take chapter quizzes, and pass the final exam.
- Print: After completing the online course, you can immediately print out your permanent Hunter Education Card and voucher to buy your hunting license.

Black Bear Taxidermy Options
A Manitoba black bear is a trophy you'll remember for a lifetime, so it's worth thinking about how you'd like to display it before your hunt.
Choosing the Right Mount
Many hunters choose a traditional bear rug, but there are several great options to fit your style and available space:
- Bear Rug: A classic choice that showcases the entire hide. A 5-foot bear creates a rug about 5 x 5½ feet, while a 7-foot bear may require up to 7 x 8 feet of wall space.
- Full Body Mount: A lifelike display that typically takes up only 2½ feet by 6–7 feet of floor space.
- Half or Head Mount: Wall-mounted options that require about the same space as a large deer mount.
- Three-Quarter Mount: A dramatic wall display that offers more detail while taking up less room than a full body mount.
Consider Fur Quality
The condition of the hide can also help determine the best mount.
- Early spring and late fall bears usually have thick, full coats that are perfect for rugs and full body mounts.
- Bears with rubbed spots often look better as three-quarter or half mounts, where any imperfections can be minimized.

At True North Trophy Adventures, we take wildlife management seriously and are committed to maintaining healthy populations and high-quality hunting opportunities for all guests. Our hunts are conducted on a fair-chase basis. This is real hunting in remote wilderness, offering a rare chance to experience areas few people ever see.
Once a hunter has taken a shot at an animal, that portion of the hunt is considered complete unless there is clear evidence of a wound. Every reasonable effort will be made to recover any wounded animal.
Before your hunt, our team will go over:
- Proper identification and judging of bears (boars vs. sows, size, and maturity)
- Ethical shot placement
- Field decision-making to support clean, responsible harvests

Conditions can change quickly, and opportunities may come at any time—early in the hunt or in the final moments of your last day. Shot opportunities may be brief, so preparation is essential.
We strongly recommend that hunters:
